Why servo positioning systems need zero backlash, and which couplings deliver it.
Backlash is the tiny clearance between drive elements. When a servo reverses direction, that clearance lets the shaft "wind up" briefly, causing positioning error and vibration. The higher the accuracy required, the more backlash matters.
Three mainstream zero-backlash couplings: diaphragm (metal flexure, rigid, no clearance), jaw (elastomer pre-compressed, no clearance), bellows (one-piece metal bellows). Every SAILINK coupling is zero-backlash.
